Reels

The fly reel is at once simple and remarkably complex. While we enjoy a seemingly endless supply of new and improved fly reels from myriad sources, most share the same basic features: a small knob that adjusts the drag setting, a frame that houses the drag and mounts on the rod, a spool that is rotated by hand to retrieve line, a one-way bearing that determines the direction of retrieve and a gear ratio of 1:1.

Our selection includes new fly reels from Tibor, Abel, Shilton, Van Staal, Ross, and Henschel, in addition to a revolving inventory of classic and collectible reels. Need a Charlton 8350C, a Saracione Lefty Kreh Monarch 35-D, or an early Steelfin? Call us—as of our opening, we have all of these in stock.

Need a Charlton 8500 1.2 from 1994, with a 1/4 inch drive and original Charlton drag system? Yes. An original Fin-nor Wedding Cake, one of the earliest and historically relevant fly reels used in the Florida Keys? It's here, though we do like to use that one.

We know and use the reels we sell, and can, rig, strip and care for each and every one. If there is one thing we care about, it’s that the system used to subdue the fish you work so hard to hook is up to the job. We have fished hundreds of reels, broken quite a few, and welcome the opportunity to get the most appropriate one into your hands.
