Fishing in May
Fishing in May
/May 14, 2011
Shark fishing with Fitz was great fun, though the blacktips refused to cooperate. This is tarpon season, however, so it may indeed serve us right to have had the difficulty we did chasing the teeth.
We did hook one fish on 3 kg, though broke it off soon after hooking up when the reel handle became tangled on a piece of mono I had tied months ago on my wrist.
As far as tarpon fishing goes, it’s been good. While we have yet to see the typical Spring “rush” of fresh fish on a regular basis, there are plenty of fish around and they are catchable. Next week I am out with Captain John O’Hearn for a few days (in my obsession with “the six”) and will have a report.
Tight lines,
