Judy Charlton Reels

Name Image Price Description
Signature Series 8600B, matte finish, with Judy Charlton’s signature $6495

Early on, Charlton Outdoor Technologies, Inc. offered the Thin-Line series of reels in a matte finish. The Thinn-Line Elite were made with a combination of matte and gloss finish, and the Signature Series (that became, along with the 8350C and 8450C, the heart of the Charlton line) were made with a gloss finish.

8600B with Judy Charlton’s signature $5995

This was the largest Charlton reel produced, and was made for Judy Charlton early in the production of the 8600B models (the serial numbers began with 8600-8000, making this a very early production model).

Signature Series 8550C, Bonefish Spool $4495

An unused 8550C, with the popular bonefish spool. The handle is mounted toward the interior of the spool, creating a multiplying effect. The large arbor is suited for lighter bonefish weight lines.

Thinn Line Elite 8500 .8 $3495

The .8 version of the 1.2 listed above, this reel features a very early serial number. A rare example of a Thinn Line Elite reel, it features a cork drag and a ¼ inch drive. The reel is in beautiful condition and ships with its original zippered case from 1994.

Thinn Line Elite 8500 1.2 $4495

The Thinn Line and Thinn Line Elite reels were internally the same as the Signature Series, though externally they were slightly different. The major difference was the size of the drag knob in the Thinn Line and Thinn Line Elite series, smaller than the Signature Series drag but still maintaining the 360-degree rotation that all Charltons were known for.

OTHER RARE AND COLLECTIBLE REELS

Name Image Price Description
Elite Series 8500 1.2 ON REQUEST

The Elite series reels were produced concurrently, though briefly, with the Thinn-line Elite Series reels. The predecessor the Signature Series, their run was brief and featured a beautiful matte finish as standard.

Signature Series 8400 1.6, Matte Finish, Two Handles, No Logo 6995 USD

There are very few reels that come across our desk that we haven’t seen before. One of these is this beautiful 8400 1.6 in a rare satin-matte finish. Made without the Charlton crest that adorned all reels except those that bore the signature of the buyer, the effect is elegant and understated on such a rare size and finish.

8350C PRICE REDUCED!!! 1,500 USD (RECENTLY REDUCED FROM $1,800)

Another recent addition to the our Charlon offerings, this reel needs no introduction. Featuring the popular 1-5 spool, this reel is ready for any light freshwater use on rods from 1-6 weights.

Seamaster Tarpon, RH, Anti-Reverse – Used 1000 USD

As an historical piece of tarpon fishing tackle, this reel has few peers. In the golden age of tarpon fishing, the satin finish of the Seamaster reels fits right in. This is a solid example, and while it has been used its condition is great considering its age.

Seamaster Tarpon, RH, Anti-Reverse – light Use 1300 USD

The second of the pair of these reels that we are offering for sale, this is a beautiful example of the Seamaster Anti-reverse Tarpon reel. It’s in near-perfect condition, and it’s quite likely only been fished a few times—if at all.

Sold REELS

Name Image Price Description
Signature Series 8500 .8 SOLD 2,100 USD SOLD (RECENTLY REDUCED FROM $2,400)

This reel comes from a private collection, and has been barely used. Once lined but not fished, the reel shows hardly any evidence of ever being on a boat or stream. There is some light rust spots in the Charlton crest on the spool release dial, though elsewhere it’s hard to find any mark at all.

Signature Series 8550C, Tarpon spool SOLD 3200 USD SOLD

This is a great example of a reel that has been well cared for. The 8550C was one of the more popular of the Signature Series, and the tarpon spool was likely the most widely produced.

(Spare Spool) Signature Series 8550C Spey Spool, Matte Finish SOLD 1000 USD SOLD

This is a very rare spool, in a very rare finish. There weren’t many Signature Series reels made in the matte finish, to begin with, and probably very few spools featured this gorgeous addition. This reel appears unused, and we’ve looked very closely for any sign of wear.

Signature Series 8550C with both the Tarpon spool and the Spey pool SOLD 4300 USD SOLD

This 8550C comes with two spools: the ever popular tarpon spool as well as the tarpon spool. Both show signs of use, though both have been impeccably cared for. There are no marks on the frame that we can find, and only a tiny (and we do mean tiny) mark on the edge of the Spey spool.

Signature Series 8500 1.6 engraving “Jim Vincent ‘Speyman’” SOLD 5000 USD

The 8500 .8 and 1.2 were popular reels, though the former was made in quantities much larger than the latter. The 1.6 was the scarce cousin of these two reels and was made in truly low numbers.
