Fishing last week and last night
Fishing last week and last night
Last week I had the pleasure of joining Alex Spiros and his father Jim for a day of fly fishing with Aaron Snell. Alex had worked on his casting and tied some flies with me the day before, and we went out to give his new skills some practice. Alex caught a big jack crevalle on fly, and hooked one of the largest nurse sharks I’ve ever seen an hour later. The jack he landed:
and the shark came off soon after the hook set. I’d like to thank Alex and Jim for a great day on the water, as well as congratulate him for sticking with the fly rod and getting it done.
In other news, last night my friend Henrik and I went fishing at midnight; by 12:35 I’d hooked my first tarpon of 2013. Here’s to a year full of many more.
Heading to Miami tomorrow to fish with Joe Rodriguez on Thursday. Joining us will be Mike Driscoll, a great friend who I don’t get to fish with as much as I’d like.
Reports to follow as always.
