Founded in 2009, The Angling Company is Key West's most trusted fly shop and guide booking service, located at 333 Simonton Street in Old Town Key West. We serve anglers of all experience levels — from first-timers learning to cast to seasoned competitors targeting IGFA world records.
Our team includes IGFA world record holders and tournament champions Nathaniel Linville and Kat Vallilee and experienced staff who fish these waters every chance they get.
We specialize in fly fishing the shallow-water flats of the Florida Keys — one of the most technically demanding saltwater fisheries in the world. Our guided trips target tarpon, bonefish, permit, and barracuda in the Lower Keys backcountry. Our casting lessons are designed specifically for the unique challenges of saltwater fly fishing. Our fly shop carries only the brands we trust and use ourselves.

Upon entering this well-laid-out, perfectly organized angler's paradise, I was greeted by Cody, who was welcoming, knowledgeable, and approachable. I inquired about getting a casting tune-up session with Nathaniel, who unfortunately was in Belize doing the 8 Weight Invitational. My loss, but I figured it was worth asking. Last week, upon returning to Key West, I was finally able to connect with Nathaniel for that casting session. It was a true masterclass in fly-casting instruction, full stop. His articulation, patience, and intuitive approach made the experience relaxing and never intimidating. You would be hard-pressed to find a better instructor—or a better person to spend time around. I’ve visited plenty of fly shops over the years, and this is hands-down my favorite fly shop in Key West. The shop is exceptionally well stocked with everything you could possibly need for a day on the water. Whether you’re looking for flies, fly-tying materials, leaders, accessories, or last-minute items before a charter, they’ve got you covered. The selection is thoughtfully curated by people who clearly understand Keys fishing and the needs of serious anglers. I’m also a big fan of their Simms gear selection. They carry quality technical clothing and equipment that can handle the heat, sun, and saltwater conditions that make the Florida Keys such a unique fishery. On top of that, they have some really cool shop swag, hats, shirts, and other gear that you’ll actually want to wear long after your trip is over. What I appreciate most is that The Angling Company feels authentic. It’s not just a store; it’s a gathering place for anglers who love the sport. The staff is knowledgeable, friendly, and always willing to share advice or point you in the right direction. Five stars. Walking into The Angling Company is a lot like walking into a candy store—except the candy costs slightly more, comes in fly boxes, and somehow convinces you that you absolutely need “just a few more flies” before tomorrow’s trip.
