This offering is yet another from a collection of Charlton Reels that have never been lined or used, and kept in their original packaging. Any Charlton that fits these criteria is valuable, and this one comes with a spare spool (also unused and in its original box). The spare spool could be used and one retained if the buyer wanted to fish the reel and still retain a mint spool, or it could be displayed with the frame. Both are unused, and the handles have been oiled per Jack’s original care instructions.

Of particular note on this reel is that it bears the signature of the maker himself, Jack D. Charlton. As far as we’ve been able to ascertain there have been less than 10 examples of reels that Jack put his own signature on, and this is one of them. Of the 8500 1.2 size, it’s only the second we’ve ever heard of. For a collector or someone wishing to put to use a reel that features a mark from the maker, this is a singular opportunity.
